Bernedoodles
Bernese Mountain Dog
Poodle
Bernedoodle
Bernedoodles are a cross between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle. This hybrid blends the intelligence and liveliness of the poodle with the affection and loyalty of the Bernese Mountain Dog. Bernedoodles are friendly and loyal, therefore, make excellent family dogs. They are great with children and other dogs. With Bernedoodles you get the best of both worlds: the intelligence and low shedding coat of the Poodle combined with the easy going, and loyal nature of the Bernese.

Size
The Standard Bernedoodle ranges from 15 to 29 inches tall while weighing 50 pounds and above.

Traits & Temperament
Overall, a Bernedoodle is gentle, friendly, smart and playful. They are great with children, families, and other dogs.

Energy Levels
Bernedoodles have medium energy levels and require daily exercise. Daily walks, exercise and mental stimulation is recommended for Bernedoodles.

Grooming
Similar to other Doodles, Bernedoodles require frequent brushing and grooming.

Life Expectancy
Bernese Mountain Dogs tend to only live to about 7 years of age. However, because of the Poodle parent, for the Bernedoodle, their life expectancy is increased and they can be expected to live up to 12 years and beyond.
The Bernedoodle
Highlights
-
Bernedoodles tend to have fewer health issues than either Poodles or Bernese Mountain Dogs, because they are a mixed breed.

-
Bernedoodles may be stubborn as puppies, but that usually fades with age, and their intelligence makes them very trainable for patient owners

-
Bernedoodles are usually hypoallergenic and shed very little, especially the F1b Bernedoodles, which is a Bernedoodle crossed back to a Poodle.

-
Though Bernedoodles are generally great family dogs and do well with children, as well as other dogs, early socialization is always recommended in making sure they stay calm and comfortable in new situations.

-
Bernedoodles can vary greatly in appearance depending on which traits they receive from each parent.

-
Bernedoodles crave attention and do best in a home where they are not left alone for long periods of time.
